Privacy Act Notice: Authority: The Homeland Security Act of 2002 [Public Law 1007-296, §302(4)] authorizes the Science and Technology Directorate to conduct "basic and applied research, development, demonstration, testing, and evaluation activities that are relevant to any or all elements of the Department, through both intramural and extramural programs." In exercising its responsibility under the Homeland Security Act, S&T is authorized to collect information, as appropriate, to support R&D related to improving the security of the homeland.
Purpose: DHS will collect and use this information to provide an online, professional connection and collaboration environment (via communities of practice) for First Responders.
Routine Uses: Some of your information (to include full name and First Responder discipline) will be disclosed to all authorized members of the First Responder Communities of Practice (FR CoP) information system to vet potential users of the system. Any additional information you voluntarily provide to the system will be disclosed only to other FR CoP users of your choosing and/or to DHS personnel and designated contractors responsible for administering the system.
Disclosure: Furnishing this information is entirely voluntary; however, failure to furnish at least the minimum information required to register (to include full name, email address, and First Responder discipline) will prevent you from obtaining authorization to access the FR CoP information system.
